Mississauga Nation EDO Collective Working Group
Although some of the job functions may vary by EDO within our collective group, we all share the following in common in our pursuit of the seven grandfather teachings and prosperity within the band and for the band members.
The Economic Development officer supports the community and social development, linking economic needs to the social, cultural, and environmental needs, wants, and desires of the First Nation community and its members. It is a base to build the communities self-reliance and generate sustainable economic growth, community control, and increase the capacity for the First Nation members, both on Reserve and off Reserve to participate in the economy from an economically sustainable standpoint.
The program mandate is to effectively manage and be accountable for program funding intended to support economic development in training and employment support, business support for existing as well as start-up businesses, resource management support, and other related economic development activities undertaken on behalf of the Mississauga Nations and their membership to attain economically sustainable ventures.
The “EDO Collective" consists of 6 Economic Development Officers who meet via conference call the second Tuesday of each month at 10 AM for no longer than one hours to undertake resource sharing and evaluation of investment opportunities the Mississauga Collective can benefit from as a cohesive group, where our collective resources can come to bear on more significant investment opportunities we can all benefit from.
